Berkeley Repertory Theater

On 4/23 Hershey Felder will be performing his one man show, “Hershey Felder As Irving Berlin at Berkeley Repertory Theater”.  Mr. Felder is so supportive of our mission he has volunteered to state the following after his performance.

“Today begins Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day and start of the National Jewish Theater Foundation - Holocaust Theater International Initiative -Remembrance Day Play Readings. I dedicate my performance to that event. Although theater has played an extraordinary role from the 1930s to today in Holocaust awareness and education, there has never before been a national program that emphasized the formal use of theater in Holocaust awareness.  I am delighted that plays, including a work that I was involved with, "The Pianist of Wilesden Lane"  are now a resource for this growing series of Remembrance Readings and performances done for deserving audiences by so many worthwhile organizations across the U.S.A. Any and all commemorative events, now and in the future, including Yom Hashoah and International Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27) can be enriched by the message of these and other plays. I encourage theaters like Berkeley Rep and others across the nation where I have performed to continue or initiate the production of Holocaust plays. I join with my participating colleagues in theaters, universities, memorial organizations in the sincere hope that the utilization of theater works in education and production will continue and grow internationally, inspiring all to keep alive the lessons of the Holocaust while providing an artistically driven moral compass for future generations”. Hershey Felder.

Berkeley Repertory will also use this quote in their materials to publicize Remembrance Readings
